How we pick contractor & jobsite gear

Most "best gear" lists online are built to sell whatever's cheapest to promote, or are lightly reworded from a manufacturer's own spec sheet. We do neither. Every product on this site is independently cross-checked against Amazon's own listings before it's included, and we say so plainly when a price, rating, or review count can't be confirmed - rather than publishing a number we're not sure of.

Our process

For every product we cover: we confirm its identity and Amazon listing independently, rather than trusting a single source; we research real prices, star ratings, and review counts directly from listings and manufacturer spec pages; and where we can't personally verify a figure, the page marks it (reported) or leaves it out entirely, instead of rounding a guess up into a fact. We date-stamp every guide, and we'll say plainly on a page if its data is lower-confidence than the rest of the site - that happens, and hiding it would defeat the point of running an honest review site.

What we don't do

We don't claim hands-on testing we haven't done. Nothing on this site has been bolted into a real van or used on a real job yet - if that changes, the relevant page will say so and be upgraded to a hands-on review. We also don't recommend Amazon's own private-label products over better alternatives just because they're easier to source, and we say so on the rare page where one appears.

How we make money

As an Amazon Associate, we earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through links on this site. It never affects which products we recommend - we've published pages with lower-confidence pricing data rather than quietly upgrade a number to look more polished. Full disclosure.

Who writes this

We're not tradespeople, and the pages say so where it matters - you won't find a claim here about how a tool belt feels after eight hours on a roof. What we can do is verify: cross-check listings, confirm specs against manufacturer pages, and write down exactly what we could and couldn't confirm.
